The Ivory Grille Lounge in Hotel Bothwell is getting a complete makeover, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
“We’re expanding and renovating the lounge, it was definitely time,” said Erica Eisenmenger, vice president of Furnell Companies, which operates Hotel Bothwell. “Since we opened the Lounge in 2010, a lot of patrons and regular guests have expressed a desire to have it expanded and an opportunity presented itself so we decided to start.”
The expansion was made possible by moving the Scott Joplin Store from Hotel Bothwell to the Furnell Landmark Building, two blocks down the street. Eisenmenger said the new lounge — which will get a new name, not yet decided on — will double in size and reflect “the Hotel Bothwell atmosphere.”
“We’re working to get photos and other decor to really reflect the Hotel in its heyday,” she said. “Hotel Bothwell has a lot of history and we’d like to bring some of that nostalgia back. We’re going to offer some unique features not available anywhere else.”
The lounge will continue to serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and offer a selected menu. A fireplace and comfortable chairs will give patrons “a place to have a drink before dinner or a nightcap,” Eisenmenger said. “We really want to create a space for a small group of people to just relax, have a few drinks and enjoy a conversation.
The area where the lounge was will be turned back into a private dining room and a temporary lounge has been set up in the hotel’s lobby area.
“Our target area is really anyone and everyone who would like a nice place to relax for a bit,” Eisenmenger said. “We’re hoping to have everything completed the week of Valentine’s Day and see all our regular customers, and new faces too, in the new space.”
