Green Ridge wins regular season finale at Lincoln

The Green Ridge baseball team closed out the regular season with a 13-8 win at Lincoln on Thursday.

The Tigers scored in every inning except the third, plating five runs in the second and three in the fourth.

Taylor Hoos pitched three innings for the win, allowing one earned run and striking out three. Justin McCarthy pitched a two-inning save.

At the plate for Green Ridge, Cole Dove went 3 for 4 and Tim Callahan was 2 for 4. McCarthy and Zac Callahan each drove in three runs.

Lincoln (5-12) will host Osceola in the Class 2, District 13 tournament at 3 p.m. today.

Green Ridge (11-8) will open the Class 1, District 13 tournament at 6:30 p.m. Monday against either Otterville or Leeton.

Class 2, District 15

Smithton 7, Crest Ridge 5

Kaysinger Conference teams went 1-1 in the first round of the Class 2, District 15 tournament at Windsor on Thursday.

Smithton beat Crest Ridge 7-5 while the host Greyhounds fell to Lone Jack 8-6.

Lone Jack led the Tigers until Smithton scored four runs in the fifth to make it 6-5. Jeffery Bell and Dane Apsher hit back-to-back triples in the inning.

Freshman Tristan Westermier went 2 for 2 at the plate for the Tigers. He had a single and a double and was hit by a pitch.

Preston McMullen got the win. He pitched 3 2-3 innings and struck out six while allowing two hits.

Smithton (8-9) will face Concordia in the semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Lone Jack will face Sacred Heart in the other semifinal at 7 p.m. Monday.
