Faith Bemiss | Democrat Merrie Pendleton, of Iberia, works on a kloeppeli (German bobbin lace) doily during the 23rd Annual Sangerfest in Cole Camp on Saturday, June 14. Pendleton said her mother, Christa Robbins, taught her the craft. Her mother was from Bernsbach, Germany and at the age of 8 to 12-years-old, she attended kloeppeli school, which cost 25 cents a week at the time. The pattern Pendleton is working on comes from a book published in the 1880s that belonged to her mother. More of Pendleton’s work came be seen at Sweets an’ Tiques in Cole Camp.
