This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 9

1:40 a.m.: Tara Michelle Karkiewicz, 34, of the 200 block of East 24th Street, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a vehicle accident and operating a vehicle without a valid license. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East 24th Street to investigate a possible accident. Investigation revealed Karkiewicz drove a vehicle while intoxicated and crashed into an electrical pole, causing damage, near South Ingram Avenue and East 24th Street. She was arrested and taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical evaluation.

4:10 p.m.: Jessie R. Williams, 27, of the 1400 block of West Third Street, was arrested on a charge of peace disturbance. An officer responded to a business in the 1700 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a reported robbery. The store clerk said Williams came into the business and raised the front of his shirt, exposing a pistol tucked into his waistband. As he exposed the pistol, he asked whether the clerk thought it was fake. The clerk said Williams didn’t take or demand anything before leaving the store.

Dec. 10

6:20 p.m.: Aaron M. Stevenson, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree property damage. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Limit Avenue for a burglary in progress. Dispatch said a suspect was throwing rocks at the back windows of a restaurant. Dispatch then reported motion alarms going off inside the building. A witness pointed out Stevenson, who was walking north behind another business, and said he exited the restaurant through a broken window. The officers took Stevenson into custody.

6:50 p.m.: Nadalene Meseky, 20, of the 1000 block of South Merriam Avenue, was arrested on a charge of resisting arrest. Piaget Deitas, 23, of Larussell, was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, felony third-degree domestic assault, second-degree property damage and misdemeanor identity theft. An officer was dispatched to Meseky’s residence in reference to a male subject trying to get inside. The caller said it was a man known to her, Deitas, and he didn’t belong there. The officer found Deitas getting into a vehicle. As the officer approached, Meseky came out and started throwing bricks at the vehicle. The officer yelled at her to stop, but she did not. He arrested her after a short struggle. When other units arrived, Deitas was also arrested. Meseky said Deitas forced the front door open and assaulted her. He also gave false information to identify himself to the officers.

Dec. 12

5:35 a.m.: Jeremy Bush, 37, of the 500 block of East 10th Street, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Patrol officers and Drug Enforcement Unit detectives served a search warrant at Bush’s residence after investigating the address for methamphetamine distribution. Five subjects were in the house when officers arrived, and three were released from the scene. The search revealed Bush was in possession of methamphetamine and additional items of evidence used for distribution. A second man, Ronald D. Barker, 61, was taken into custody for an outstanding Pettis County failure to appear warrant.

Incidents

Dec. 8

3:15 p.m.: An officer spoke with a complainant in the police department lobby. She said someone damaged the historic metal fence around the yard of the Heard Memorial Clubhouse in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The damage would have occurred between 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Friday. It appears a vehicle traveling in a nearby parking lot left the pavement and drove over the fence. The replacement of the fence is expected to cost about $1,000. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Dec. 9

11;35 p.m.: Officers responded to the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard to assist a subject in retrieving her child. A subject drove away from the area, and it was later discovered the person had a suspended driver’s license. The case has been forwarded to the Pettis County prosecutor.
