This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 18

5:50 p.m.: Richard E. Froehlich, 58, of the 1100 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Officers responded to the area of U.S. Route 50 and South Grand Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle collision with no injuries. He spoke with Froehlich, one of the drivers, and could smell a strong odor of intoxicants coming from him. The officer arrested Froehlich after he failed to perform a series of field sobriety tests.

May 19

2:50 a.m.: Tanner J. Leary, 18, of the 2400 block of Stacey Lane, received a municipal court summons for a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer found Leary’s license was suspended after a traffic stop in the 1600 block of South Limit Avenue. He was arrested and released from the Pettis County Jail with a municipal court summons.

7:25 a.m.: Raymond D. Harrison, 47, of the 1600 block of West 10th Street, received a municipal court summons for a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Harrison’s vehicle for an equipment violation in the area of West 32nd Street and South Kentucky Avenue. Dispatch advised Harrison’s license was suspended. The officer released him from the scene with a citation because of extenuating circumstances.

9:45 a.m.: Christopher D. McKinzie, 35, of Dal Whi Mo Court, was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault. Two officers went to the 500 block of Dal Whi Mo Court in reference to a domestic disturbance. They spoke with both parties involved, and after further investigation, they placed McKinzie under arrest.

10:50 a.m.: Bailey W. Bardin, 18, of the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested on a charge of violation of a full order of protection. An officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue for a report of a disturbance. They spoke with the family at the residence and learned through dispatch that the male suspect involved, Bardin, had a full order of protection from a woman who lived at the address. She wrote a statement saying Bardin was using language toward her that she found offensive.

9:55 p.m.: Gary Glenn Kennedy, 42, of the 1600 block of West 20th Street, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to stop at a stop sign. An officer stopped Kennedy’s vehicle in the area of East Fourth Street and South Hancock Avenue for disobeying a stop sign. He spoke with Kennedy and suspected he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The officer had Kennedy perform standard field sobriety tests on which he reportedly did poorly. The officer took him to the police station where he read a blood draw notification. Kennedy refused to give a sample of his breath, so the officer obtained a warrant for a blood sample. He later took Kennedy to the Pettis County Jail.

May 20

8:40 p.m.: Lynn M. Bentley, 33, of the 1900 block of South Lamine Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Bentley’s vehicle in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard. Following investigation at the scene, he arrested her on a charge of driving while suspended.

Incidents

May 18

8 a.m.: Officers responded to the 200 block of West 24th Street for a report of damage to a vehicle. The complainant said someone shot out her front driver side widow with a BB gun sometime between 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday. At the time of the report, she didn’t have an estimate for the cost of the damage to the vehicle. The officer didn’t have suspect information, but once one is identified, the complainant is willing to assist with prosecution.

10:10 a.m.: A complainant contacted the police department in reference to her son being out of control. The son had physically struck her, kicked her and spit on her. He assaulted her again after she told him he was going to have a much harder punishment. The officer took a report and is sending it to the juvenile office.

8:30 p.m.: An officer responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a report of an assault that took place earlier in the day. The assault happened in the 1200 block of South Lafayette. The office took a report, and an investigation continues.

9:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft report. The caller, an employee, said a woman came into the store, walked around gathering items and attempted to leave, causing the alarm to sound. The caller said she reviewed the security footage and saw the woman putting items in her clothing. A man who drove the suspect to the store also accompanied her.

May 20

11:25 p.m.: An officer responded to the 400 block of North Grand Avenue for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim reported a subject she knows stole keys from her purse and took her vehicle. She made a written statement, and the officer is submitting a charge of stealing a motor vehicle to the state prosecutor. The vehicle was recovered in Warrensburg an hour and a half later.

Arrests

May 20

10:25 p.m.: Shannon M. Clark, of Cole Camp, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and first-degree property damage. Deputies arrested Clark on a Sedalia Police Department warrant. While the deputies and SPD officers attempted to take her into custody, she reportedly started resisting and pulling away. She began to kick the door and window of the deputies’ vehicle while she was in the back seat, reportedly causing damage to the door.

Incidents

May 17

8 a.m.: Deputies took a report at the Sheriff’s Office in reference to a violation of an order of protection. The reporting party wanted to keep a record on file of a family member trying to communicate with them by phone from out of town. No arrest has been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

May 18

12:15 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the area of Cedar Springs Street and Route U in reference to property damage to a motor vehicle. The reporting party explained her daughter’s front passenger side window was broken out between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. that morning. The damage will cost about $174. Investigation is ongoing.

May 20

3:20 p.m.: Deputies took a report of trespassing and possible minor assault that occurred in the 6600 block of U.S. Route 50. There were no injuries. The investigation continues.

Arrests

May 19

9:35 a.m.: Regina L. Sewell, 47, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Troopers also issued a citation for insurance and a warning for a broken brake light.

1:15 p.m.: Richard W. Grant, 60, of Independence, was arrested in Henry County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding, careless and imprudent driving, and failure to display valid license plates.

11:20 p.m.: John F. Kincaid, 26, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated.

11:20 p.m.: Brandon L. Ede, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, displaying a nonwhite auxiliary lamp, not wearing a seat belt and not having insurance.

May 20

1:10 a.m.: Leopoldo Rubio-Leon, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving without a valid operator’s license, not having insurance and not wearing a seat belt.

1:25 a.m.: Ashley M. Klonowski, 25, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding and not having insurance. Troopers also served a felony warrant from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

3:10 p.m.: Wolfgang J. Cruse, 48, of Clinton, was arrested in Henry County on a felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.
