SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Art Museum reminds artists working in watermedia to submit their entries for Watercolor USA before the March 6, deadline.
Organized in 1962, this year marks the 56th year of Watercolor USA, the nationally known exhibition open to artists from all 50 states and U.S. territories. Watercolor USA seeks to discover what’s new and what’s next in the world of contemporary American watermedia. This year’s exhibit will be judged by Laurin McCracken, President of the Watercolor USA Honor Society.
Approximately $20,000 in cash and Museum purchase awards are available, including the Kenneth M. Shuck Memorial Award, the Greg G. Thielen Memorial Award, and the Robert E. Goodier Memorial Award For Traditional Transparent Watercolor. Additional cash awards are generously provided courtesy of the Watercolor USA Honor Society. Major support for Watercolor USA is provided by the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates (SMMA).
For more information, to view an entry prospectus, or to enter, artists should visit the Museum’s website at www.sgfmuseum.org. Watercolor USA is scheduled to open with a reception, sponsored by SMMA, on June 2 and run through August 27. The Springfield Art Museum is located at 1111 E. Brookside Dr. Admission is always free.
