On Feb. 24, the Smith-Cotton JROTC Echo Company visited the Veterans’ home in Warrensburg. The trip started with a tour of the facility followed by meeting and interacting with the veterans while they ate dinner. The cadets met a plethora of different people and heard lots of different stories.
LTC Harry Cunningham informed cadets that they are the last generation to meet World War II veterans and that they were very lucky to have the opportunity. The day was ended by saying goodbye and thanking the veterans for their service and sacrifices.
“These experiences make me see that these are real people with real stories and I’m so grateful to meet them and share the stories with them,” Cadet Master Sgt. Scafe said. “It’s a truly eye opening experience.”
We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to our parents and sponsors for making experiences like this possible.
