Sparks anniversary

David and Peggy Sparks will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 31.

They met in 1964 in Warrensburg while attending CMSU and were engaged on New Year’s Eve 1964. They married July 31, 1965, in Sedalia.

David worked as a teacher and coach at Sacred Heart School in the early 1970s and as a coach and principal at La Monte School until 1978. Peggy worked as a full-time designer at Pfeiffer’s Flower Shop from 1964 until 1977. They moved to Maysville, where David was the elementary principal. Peggy then continued her education at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, and became a teacher in 1981.

The couple has two children, Darin Sparks, of Warrensburg, and Dawnja (Sparks) McCormack, of Leeton, and five grandchildren.

They will be receiving guests at their home in Leeton from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1.
