The Smith-Cotton volleyball team got within two points of a district title, but could not hold off Rock Bridge as the Bruins won Class 4, District 9 over the Lady Tigers on Wednesday, 17-25, 25-23, 25-22.The Lady Tigers won the first set and had a 23-21 lead in the second following a Courtney Koetting kill before the Bruins scored the final four points.In the third set there were 12 ties, the last at 19-19, before Rock Bridge began to pull away.“I think we started out with a lot of confidence and in the third game it just went down a little bit,” said Smith-Cotton coach Darcia Koetting. “The girls mis-communicated a little bit.”

Max Martin leads Gremlins past Crusaders in double overtime
