Warrensburg teen dies in accident

A Warrensburg teenager, Shirley Tran, 14 died as a result of a two vehicle car accident at 1:39 p.m. in Johnson County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Tran was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Molly A. Towne, 20, of Warrensburg.

The crash occurred when a vehicle driven by Mary Pierce, 32, of Odessa was northbound on U.S. Highway 50 at state route 131. Molly A. Towne was driving a vehicle eastbound on Highway 50.

Pierce failed to yield and pulled the vehicle she was driving into the path of the vehicle driven by Towne. Towne’s vehicle struck the left rear of the vehicle driven by Towne. Both vehicles travelled into the median and came to rest.

The vehicle driven by Pierce also struck a road sign and a utility pole in the median.

Pierce was transported to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence where she was treated for serious injuries. An infant passenger in the vehicle, Henry T. Pierce, of Warrensburg, was also taken to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Towne was transported to Centerpoint Hospital with serious injuries as was a passenger in her vehicle, Loan Tran, 20 of Warrensburg who was also treated for serious injuries.

Shirley Tran was pronounced dead at the scene by Johnson County Coroner C.L. Holdren.

Reports indicate that all five individuals involved in the accident were wearing safety devises at the time of the accident.

Three suffer injuries in early morning accident

A Montrose woman received moderate injuries in a two vehicle accident at 8:56 a.m. Monday Morning in Henry County.

Stephanie D. Motley, 31, of Montrose, suffered moderate injuries when a vehicle she was driving on state route 52, 337 feet east of Route K, turned into the path of a vehicle driven by Danita G. Wade, 66, of Bolivar, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Motley was transported to Ellett Memorial Hospital by EMS wher she was treated for moderate injuries.

Wade was seeking her own treatment for minor injuries. A passenger in the vehicle driven by Wade, Kelly A. Cummings, 56, of Bolivar, was transported by Golden Valley EMS to Ellet Memorial Hospital.

Reports indicate that all three individuals were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
