According to an eyewitness at the scene, the driver of the vehicle was trying to avoid another car that was being driven “recklessly, swerving in and out of traffic.” The driver of the black vehicle tried to avoid the car as it attempted to pass. The driver hit his brakes to avoid a collision. A passenger in the vehicle was ejected from the car and landed in the median. The male driver was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for his injuries. The female passenger was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City by air ambulance for her injuries. The driver of the vehicle described as a white passenger car did not stop, leaving the scene of the accident traveling east on U.S. Highway 50.
