UPDATE: One-vehicle accident injures driver


Members of the Sedalia Police Department and Pettis County Ambulance District check on the condition of the driver involved in a single-vehicle accident Monday morning near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and South Lamine Avenue. According to SPD, the accident occurred when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was uncertain what caused the accident, according to a statement given to the police at the scene. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to by PCAD Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment of minor injuries.

One person was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 10:45 a.m. Monday in Sedalia.

According to a Sedalia Police Department report, DeAndre Anthony Ledale Laney, 19, of the 500 block of West Fifth Street, was driving west on Broadway Boulevard while talking on his cell phone. Laney told officers he became upset about the conversation he was having and at the same time his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree between the curb and the sidewalk, just before Ohio Avenue.

Laney complained of forehead pain and said his forehead had struck the steering wheel during the accident. He was taken by the Pettis County Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center.
