Missouri State Fair announces two concerts

Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe announced Monday the first two concerts in the Pepsi Grandstand concert series for the 2016 fair, to be hosted Aug. 11-21.

Country artists Chris Janson with LOCASH will take the stage Tuesday, Aug. 16 and Christian Rock groups Newsboys with Hawk Nelson will perform Thursday, Aug. 18. Tickets will be available to the public starting June 21 through Ticketmaster.

“The announcement of these first two concerts is just the start of a diverse mix of great entertainment that we have in store for concertgoers this year at the Fair,” Wolfe said. “I am excited at how the lineup is shaping up. We will be announcing more shows soon.”

Perryville native Chris Janson burst onto the scene last year with his breakthrough No. 1 platinum-certified single “Buy Me A Boat.” Janson received three ACM Award nominations, New Male Vocalist of the Year and Single Record of the Year, and is up for Country Song of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.

LOCASH, hit-making country music duo made up of Baltimore, Md., native Chris Lucas and Indianapolis, Ind., Preston Brust, are signed to REVIVER RECORDS and coming off of the chart-topping single “I Love This Life.” They’ll be bringing their new single “I Know Somebody” and new music from their current E.P. “I Love This Life” to the Missouri State Fair.

Newsboys will bring their high-energy live performance to the Pepsi Grandstand stage with their hit singles including “We Believe,” “God’s Not Dead,” and “Born Again.” Their highly anticipated new album, “Love Riot,” was released earlier this month, debuting at No. 1 on iTunes’ Christian Top Albums chart, in the Top 10 on iTunes’ overall Top Albums chart, and at No. 14 on the Billboard Top 200.

Hawk Nelson is a Christian rock band, voted Favorite New Artist by CCM Magazine. Their latest album, “Diamonds,” was released last year and the song “Drops in the Ocean” climbed to No. 5 on the Hot Christian Songs Billboard chart.

Six more nights of concerts are still to be announced. All concert tickets will be available to the public starting June 21 through Ticketmaster online or by phone. Concertgoers are encouraged to sign up to become a Fair Fan at mostatefair.com to receive early announcements, including grandstand ticket presale opportunities.
