Having fun while the sun’s out

Although the weather was supposed to be rainy Wednesday afternoon, the sun came out, prompting Kendall Martin, 9, and his dad Travis Martin, of Blackburn, to play a little catch at Liberty Park. The National Weather Service predicted a 40 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms today and a 30 percent chance for the evening.

Heather Blaylock, of south Sedalia, gives her dog Diesel a pat during a walk Wednesday at Liberty Park. She said Diesel wanted to go with her when she left home but she forgot his leash. She used her belt to improvise for the well-mannered dog.

Nick Keller, left, and Devin Riley, both of Sedalia, play a game of 21 at Liberty Park, trying to beat the predicted rains for the evening. Keller went on to make a basket. Several others joined the two for a pickup game later in the afternoon.
