Odessa woman arrested for DWI
An Odessa woman was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 11 p.m. Friday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, April M. Coen, 24, was driving north on state Route M, three-tenths of a mile south of County Road 500, when her vehicle traveled across the center of the road and began to slide when Coen over-corrected, causing the vehicle to travel off the road and overturn.
Coen, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with serious injuries.
Coen was also arrested on charges of failure to register a motor vehicle, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a vehicle accident and no seat belt.
Two seriously injured in Benton
Two Calhoun residents sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 11:35 p.m. Friday in Benton County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Clayton R. Decker, 21, was driving north on state Route 7, one-tenth of a mile east of state Route KK, when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and his vehicle began to skid before traveling off the road and overturning.
Decker and a passenger in his vehicle, Cody A. Taylor, 27, were both taken by air ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for their injuries.
Reports indicate Taylor was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. It is unknown if Decker was wearing a seat belt.
Man arrested for DWI
A Meriden, Kansas, man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 6:16 p.m. Saturday in Saline County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Roy E. Cone, 67, was driving west on I-70 at westbound mile marker 81 when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
Cone, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Saline County Ambulance District to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall with serious injuries.
Cone was also arrested on a charge of failure to drive on the right half of the road.
Holden man arrested for DWI
A Holden man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 1:15 a.m. Sunday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Matthew A. Goss, 30, was driving south on state Route 131, a half mile north of U.S. Highway 50, when his vehicle traveled off the road and struck a guardwire, a fence and a tree.
Goss, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence with moderate injuries.
Goss was also arrested on a charge of careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.
Four injured in Morgan
Four Sedalia residents were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 3:40 p.m. Saturday in Morgan County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ashlen M. Wormsley, 16, was driving south on Potters Ford Road, eight-tenths of a mile south of Morgan County Road, when her vehicle skidded across the center of the road and traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle overturned and collided with a ditch before coming to rest.
Wormsley was taken by Mid-Mo Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries.
Three passengers in Wormsley’s vehicle, Advean Paden, 1, Alaynnah Paden, infant, and Christole L. Paden, 20, were all taken by Pettis County Ambulance District to Bothwell with minor injuries.
Reports indicate Advean and Alaynnah were both using a safety device at the time of the accident, but Christole and Wormsley were not.
One injured in Sedalia wreck
A Sedalia woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:11 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and State Fair Boulevard.
According to a Sedalia Police Department report, Allen Keith Self, 48, of the 1300 block of South Osage Avenue, was driving eastbound on Broadway Boulevard as Susan D. Lane, 50, of Minden, Louisiana, was driving behind him.
Self told officers he saw Lane in his rear view mirror, stating she had changed lanes and appeared to be speeding. Traffic was stopped at the intersection’s traffic light, so he began to slow down. As he came to a stop, Lane’s vehicle struck the rear of Self’s vehicle.
Lane told officers Self slammed on his brakes prior to the intersection and she did not have enough time to stop, causing her vehicle to strike Self’s vehicle.
A passenger in Self’s vehicle, Valorie J. Swafford, 51, of the 1300 block of South Osage Avenue, complained of arm and neck pain and that her vision was discolored. She was taken by the Pettis County Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center for her injuries.
