Physicians, leaders and clinicians gathered Wednesday, April 6 at the Bothwell Wound Healing Center to celebrate the presentation of its Center of Distinction Award. The award was presented by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

The Bothwell Wound Healing Center earned the distinction by achieving outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent and a wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 days. Bothwell’s center was one of only three in Missouri to achieve this honor.

Bothwell Wound Healing Center, which averages about 250 visits per month, offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from chronic wounds. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, debridement, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“The most common wounds we see are diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers and infections that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time,” said the center’s Program Director Katie Case. “Patients can make an appointment by simply calling our office. Since no physician referral is needed, they can get on the road to recovery sooner.”

Bothwell Wound Healing Center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 800 centers, and provides access to best practices in the treatment of chronic wounds.

“Our community is very fortunate to have an advanced wound center here in Sedalia,” said Jimmy Robertson, Bothwell’s president and chief executive officer. “These types of wounds can be debilitating for people and have a negative impact on their quality. With our Wound Healing Center, they’re able to get the help they need – even hyperbaric oxygen treatment – right here near their home.”
