Florissant man hurt in Saline

A Florissant man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday in Saline County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jacob A. Levy, 29, of St. Louis, was driving east on I-70 at the 75.2 mile marker when he fell asleep. His vehicle overtook and struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle driven by an unknown person. Levy’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road.

The second driver inspected his vehicle for damage and left the scene after finding no damage.

A passenger in Levy’s vehicle, Robert L. Levy, 60, was taken by Sweet Springs Ambulance District to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall with minor injuries.

Reports indicate both Robert and Jacob were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Sedalia man arrested for DWI

A Sedalia man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle accident at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Paul A. Chittum, 55, was driving north in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 65, fourth-tenths of a mile south of Mather Road, and was struck head-on by a southbound vehicle driven by John W. Reno, 45, of Hughesville.

Both vehicles traveled off the west side of the road.

Chittum was taken by Staff for Life air ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

Reports indicate both Chittum and Reno were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Chittum was also arrested on a charge of careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.
