Man injured in motorcycle wreck

An Odessa man sustained serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 1:15 p.m. Saturday in Benton County.

Troy L. Kirchhoff, 47, was driving north on state Route 7, one mile east of state Route BB, when his motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road, overturned and Kirchhoff was ejected, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Kirchhoff, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by Life Flight Eagle to the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital in Columbia where he was treated for serious injuries.

Man arrested for DWI

A Blue Springs man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 6:45 a.m. Sunday in Johnson County.

Zachary K. McCowen, 21, was driving on state Route 13, a half mile north of Hawthorne Boulevard, when his vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a fence, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

McCowen, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg for treatment of minor injuries.

McCowen was also arrested on charges of speeding, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, no seat belt and no insurance.

Teen hurt in Johnson

A Knob Noster teenager was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:38 p.m. Sunday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Chad W. Dunkin Jr., 17, was driving west on state Route BB, three-tenths of a mile west of Business 13, when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox. The vehicle then struck a culvert and several small trees and overturned.

Dunkin, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Lee’s Summit Medical Center with minor injuries.

Clinton man seriously injured

A Clinton man sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 3:50 p.m. Sunday in Morgan County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Donald D. Huff, 66, was driving south on state Route W, two-tenths of a mile south of Marvin Cut Off, when his motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road, down an embankment, struck a log and overturned, ejecting Huff.

Huff, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by Staff for Life to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries.

Brumley man arrested for DWI

A Brumley man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 4:25 p.m. Sunday in Morgan County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Byron L. Beard, 55, was driving north on state Route W, nine-tenths of a mile north of Indian Creek Lane, when he failed to negotiate a curve and his motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle overturned, ejecting Beard and his passenger, Jilane K. Beard, 47, of Brumley.

Both Byron and Jilane were taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach with minor injuries.

Reports indicate both occupants were wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Byron was arrested on charges of careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident and felony assault second degree vehicular intoxication.
