CLINTON — Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare has announced Kelsey Langston is the GVMH Staff Member of the Month for April. Langston, of Sedalia, has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) since January 2014. She is a Registered Nurse on the Medical Floor.

Her coworkers nominated Langston and had the following to say about her:

“Kelsey has become a true role model on the night shift. Her positive, ‘let’s work together,’ attitude has won her the respect of her co-workers. She is always willing to help with extra tasks to improve processes for patient care delivery. She is currently one of three leaders on the Quality Impact Team for Medical/Surgical Floors.

“Kelsey is always communicating with the night shift, leading by example, and then sharing information to help strengthen the relationship between nightshift and dayshift employees. She is a teacher to all new nurses in the unit.

“Kelsey was encouraged to take a leadership role for the organization due to her strong influence and knowledge. Kelsey was very much obliged, but wished to continue her dedication to her patients and stay at their bedside. Kelsey works twice as many hours as she is scheduled to cover staffing needs and to help out with patient care needs.

“Kelsey models all aspects of Behaviors of Excellence: communication is a huge part of this. Kelsey’s communication to her patients includes the use of AIDET and this is validated by her patients, who frequently mention her, during callbacks performed after discharge.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Langston was given a bouquet of flowers, a $100 gift certificate, and her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital. She is also one of 12 finalists for the 2016-17 Staff Member of the Year award.
