Woman arrested for DWI
A Pleasant Hill woman was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jessica R. Brasel, 26, was driving south on state Route 131 at NW 700th Road when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road. Brasel over-corrected, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the road and overturn, ejecting Brasel.
Brasel, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence with serious injuries.
Two youth passengers in her vehicle, Lyric R. Riggs, 6, and Ryder J. Riggs, 3, both of Pleasant Hill, were not injured and were released to a family member. Reports indicate they were both using a safety device.
Brasel was also arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in an accident, no seat belt and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sedalia Police Department reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
