Bobbie Barker will observe his 80th birthday with a celebration hosted at his daughter’s house May 7.
Bobbie, the son of Art and Knisley Barker, was born May 9, 1936, in Clinton. He moved to Sedalia when he was 2 years old.
He has four children, Terri (Fred) Bartol and Ronnie Barker, both of Sedalia, Justin (Heather) Barker, of Arlington, Texas and Shelby (Emily) Barker, of Senioa, Georgia; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Bobbie received his master plumbers license and worked with his father at Barker and Sons Plumbing before becoming a longtime builder and developer in the Sedalia area. Bobbie has had several business ventures. He purchased a Ben Franklyn store in Cody, Wyoming.
He operated and renovated Morris Motel. He built Busy B Arena, currently Fischer Stables. He owned The United Real Estate Office and won several awards. He was the Sedalia City Building Official for eight years. He owned Luv & Care Daycare Center. He built and operated West 50 Mini Storage and U-Haul Dealership. He worked for Saber Construction at Whiteman Air Force Base before finally retiring. He owns rental properties throughout the city.
Bobbie took flying lessons became a pilot and at one time owned his own plane. He stays active working in his yard and gardening. He has a boat at Truman Lake where he spends a lot of his time. He loves to fish and hunt.
