Getting ready for ragtime

Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival begins today in Sedalia

From left, Preston Carver, Tristan Webb and David Javis work to secure the Stark Pavilion Tent for the 35th Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival at East Fifth Street and Ohio Avenue Tuesday morning. Weisner Tent, of Monett, supplies many of the tents in use at the festival including the 40-feet-by-80-feet tent the men were installing on Fifth Street. This year’s festival features many of the legends of Ragtime who are returning to Sedalia, “the birthplace of Ragtime.”
