Saline County Sheriff investigating double homicide

SLATER — The Saline County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what Sheriff Cindi Mullins is referring to as a double homicide that occurred Thursday morning near Slater.

According to a Saline County Sheriff’s Department news release, the Slater Police Department received a report of shots fired just before 2 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Park Place in Slater. The male victim, identified as Ryan W. Sanders, 35, was found and transported to the hospital, where he died.

Around 8 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Department was notified of a deceased subject in a residence in the 30000 block of Nickel, located in Saline County. The victim has been identified as Bonnie Charlene Hupp, 83. The release states Hupp allegedly also died from a gunshot wound.

According to the release, investigators believe the two incidents are related. The Saline County Sheriff’s Department is working with both Slater PD and the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control. Officers are continuing to conduct interviews and follow leads in the investigation.
