Circuit court cases resolved Monday


The following case were resolved June 20 in the Pettis County Circuit Court, according to information from Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney Phillip Sawyer.

Leo Cranford, 41, of Sedalia, entered guilty pleas to first degree statutory sodomy and first degree child molestation. A trial set for June 23 has been cancelled and sentencing will be determined after a sentencing hearing scheduled for July 28 in the Pettis County Circuit Court.

Derek Steen, 24, of Sedalia, was convicted of first degree endangering the welfare of a child for injuries sustained by a 17-month-old child while in the defendant’s care in May 2014. The defendant was sentenced to seven years in the Department of Corrections.

Thomas Williams, 25, of Sedalia, was sentenced to five terms of seven years in the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance committed in early March and after confessing violating the terms of his previously imposed probation for burglary, stealing and two additional counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Theodus Whitley, 41, of Sedalia, entered a guilty plea to the offense of failure to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to 120 days in the Pettis County Jail. Prosecutors alleged that the defendant was arrested on an unrelated charge and upon being booked into the jail it was discovered that he had failed to record an address change.
