Warsaw man seriously injured

A Warsaw man sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 10:02 a.m. Friday in Benton County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Phillip D. Yoder, 46, was driving north on U.S. Highway 65 at McDaniel Road. He swerved to avoid a vehicle on the roadway and his vehicle traveled off the road and struck a ditch. Yoder’s vehicle then overturned, struck a billboard and came to rest on its wheels.

Yoder, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries.

Centerview woman hurt in Johnson

A Centerview woman sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 3:25 p.m. Friday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Amanda P. Irvine, 24, was driving west on state Route 58, west of state Route AA, when her vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck a fence and a tree.

Irvine, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for her injuries.

Osceola woman arrested for DWI

An Osceola woman was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 9:25 p.m. Saturday in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Velinda C. Chavarria, 24, was driving north in the 200 block of state Route K when her vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck a tree and a ditch and overturned.

Chavarria, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Life Flight to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with moderate injuries.

She was also arrested on charges of possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
