A man was killed in a shooting incident Tuesday afternoon in Windsor.

According to a Henry County Sheriff’s Department news release, just after 2:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to 300 Winchell St. in Windsor regarding shots fired. At the home, deputies found a white male victim laying on the front porch with an apparent wound to the chest.

Deputies and paramedics tried to resuscitate the man, but Terry Lynn Maples, 45, of Windsor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man at the scene, Jeffrey Dean Watring, 44, of the residence, was taken into custody regarding the shooting. A search warrant was served at the residence later that afternoon by deputies and several items were seized as evidence for the investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday morning in Kansas City.

Watring has been charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action and was issued a $100,000 bond, cash or surety. An arraignment took place Thursday morning.

According to online court records, Watring has been charged numerous times for passing a bad check and has multiple traffic violations, but no violent crimes.
