1 killed, 2 injured in Johnson County crash

A Warrensburg man was killed and two other drivers sustained minor injuries Friday afternoon on Road M-13 in Johnson County, according to an Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Harold V. McDermed, 89, of Warrensburg was driving a 2014 Toyota when he slowed to make a left turn. A 2009 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by Judith E. Auman, 54, of Grain Valley, rear ended the Toyota causing the semi to skid into the path of a 2006 Ford, driven by John R. Kuczko, 50, of Fordland causing them to collide.

McDermed was pronounced dead at the scene.

Auman sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs. Kuczko also sustained minor injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence.

Two injured in Henry County wreck

Two people were were injured at around 7:25 a.m. Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident on westbound State Highway 52 at Windsor Road in Henry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred after the driver, Cameron Z. Kuykendall, 23, of Ada, Oklahoma, lost control on the wet roadway and ran off the right side of the highway, struck a culvert and overturned. Kuykendall sustained minor injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center by the Pettis County Ambulance District. His passenger, Victoria L. Williams, 33, of Licking, sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to Centerpoint Medical Center. It is unknown whether anyone in the vehicle was wearing seat belts.

Two sustain injuries in Benton County accident

Two people were injured Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident in Benton County.

According to the MSHP, around 5:23 p.m., Elezabeth K. Harmon, 17, of Smithton, was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus westbound on Lost Valley Road too fast for conditions and began to slide. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment and ditch causing the car to overturn. The car returned to the roadway and came to rest on it’s top. Harmon sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Bothwell Regional Medical Center in Sedalia. her passenger, Taylor N. Mcintyre, 17, of Warsaw, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to BRHC. Harmon was reported to have worn her seat belt and Mcintyre was not.

Three injured in Benton County crash

Three Illinois residents were injured in a single-car wreck Friday evening in Benton County.

According to an MSHP report, Allison L. Jordan, 19, of Shorewood, Illinois, was driving a 2004 Honda northbound State Route M, north of Foote Boulevard at around 7:30 p.m. when the car traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned striking a tree and an electric utility pole.

Allison sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center by a private party. Her passengers, Mary K. Bush, 20, of Morris Illinois and Madison C. Jordan, 20, of Shorewood, Illinois sustained minor injuries and were also transported to Cass Regional Medical Center by private parties. All three women were wearing seat belts.
