A century of happy smiles

Lucie Conrad, who turned 100 on Monday, is greeted by her pastor the Rev. Jim Downing, of the First United Methodist Church, Sunday at a birthday open house in her honor at Winchester Meadows Assisted Living. On Conrad’s 97th birthday she celebrated by taking a tandem ride on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. On Sunday she said she’d still love to ride in a hot-air balloon and try some skydiving. Conrad had words of wisdom for those who want to reach the century mark. “Just be happy,” she said. “Just roll with it.”

The women attended the open house event with their families. Winchester Meadows Executive Director Rhonda Gaylord said Conrad always has a smile on her face and is always positive. “She’s just a pleasure to be around,” Gaylord added.
