Two members of the Sedalia Area Yoga Teachers Association volunteered their time and expertise to lead complimentary classes in observance of International Yoga Day, on Tuesday, June 21.
Matt Clouse, who has instructed “Art of Yoga,” added some group practice with installation assistants and instructors. Clouse is also registrar and exhibition coordinator at the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art. The session included asanas to bring more opening to joints and flexibility to the spine, as well as conscious breathing; so that, as Matt said, “We can be more Zen while hanging artwork.”
Irene Renauld, who has instructed “Yoga at SFCC” for over a decade, led an hour of gentle Yoga in the State Fair Community College Library. Participants included Cynthia Shelton and Kimberly Allen. Afterwards, yoga practitioners enjoyed pizza and discussion at the Dale Anderson Read Center Apartments Community Building.
“Sedalia Area Yoga Teachers like to encourage and promote each other with the idea that we would love to have enough qualified teachers so that everybody in our community might experience the physical and mental benefits,” Renaild said. “The energy of such a small town producing the admirable quality of art, music and Yoga that we have here is remarkable!”
Yoga instructors may be found and messaged on the Facebook page at Sedalia Area Yoga Teachers Association.
