A Sedalia man has died after a shooting incident that took place late Friday afternoon.

At 4:50 p.m. Friday, Pettis County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting at Chaplin RV Park, located in the 4000 block of West Main Street across from the Galaxy movie theater. Upon arrival, deputies were informed a male victim had been shot.

Pettis County Coroner Robert “Skip” Smith said John Hall, 52, was pronounced dead at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia Saturday morning.

An autopsy will take place either Monday or Tuesday. Smith said “preliminary reports indicate it appears to be a self-inflicted injury, however it is under investigation.”

The incident is under investigation by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and the Pettis County Coroner’s Office.
