Opening Day scenes at the Fair


The late morning sun creates a starburst on a member of the Marshall Municipal Band’s French horn as the band plays Thursday after opening ceremonies at the 2016 Missouri State Fair. The band played several songs including “Clowns” by Phillip Parker and “Oh Glory Triumphant” arranged by Andrew Glover.

Missouri State Fair Forensic Consultant Don Lock, prepares to take a muzzle print of a sheep as Tiffany Dugan, an agriculture teacher from Hughesville, holds the sheep Thursday. Lock has consulted for the MSF for more than 25 years. Since animal muzzles are one-of-a-kind, like human fingerprints, the print assures the animal is the correct one participating in the competition.
