Aug. 13-14 Police Reports


This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 10

4:18 p.m.: Jessie Robert Smith, 49, of the 1100 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested in the 600 block of East 14th Street on a charge of public peace disturbance. An officer responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a report of a drunk man asking for money. The officer made contact with Smith and offered him a ride, which Smith refused. They came to an agreement that Smith would walk directly home, but he did not comply. He instead went into a doctor’s office and closed the door on one of the patients entering.

Aug. 2

12:32 p.m.: Several items, valued at $1,258.97, were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of South Engineer Avenue over several days.

Aug. 3

2:06 p.m.: A victim in the 1000 block of South Murray Avenue reported they loaned a vehicle to a friend for one hour and it was not returned. The responding officer and the victim both attempted to call the suspect and left messages with no reply.

Aug. 10

12:47 p.m.: A debit card and a 55-inch television were reported stolen from a residence in the 1600 block of South Carr Avenue. There is a person of interest in the case.

12:53 p.m.: A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported in a business parking lot in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The suspect, described as an older white female with blond/light brown hair driving a blue full-size pickup, backed out of a parking spot and side-swiped the vehicle next to her.

5 p.m.: A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported in a business parking lot in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The victim said they backed out of a spot and the suspect vehicle, described as a green Ford Ranger, also backed out and struck the victim’s vehicle.

Aug. 11

6:57 a.m.: A victim reported having three bikes, valued at $300, stolen in the last week in the 500 block of West Third Street.

10:19 a.m.: An officer responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a sexual assault report. A female reported she was forced to get in a vehicle with a subject in the 1000 block of East Broadway Boulevard and drive to St. Louis. She said the subject sexually assaulted her and stole her money. She did not want to press charges.

10:58 a.m.: The right rear passenger tire of a vehicle parked along the road in the 1000 block of West Wilkerson Street was reported punctured between Aug. 8 and Aug. 9. The spare tire and passenger’s side front tire were punctured Aug. 11.

12:49 p.m.: A victim reported a subject reportedly kicked in the back door of a residence he owns in the 900 block of East Sixth Street. The suspect also cut wires to the electric box in the basement. The victim estimates the damage at $3,200.

4:58 p.m.: A victim in the 1300 block of Walker reported they paid into a business and the suspect paid using checks from a closed account, totaling $10,000.

Incidents

Aug. 9

7:04 p.m.: Property damage was reported in the 3000 block of Brooking Park Avenue in Smithton.

Aug. 10

11:45 a.m.: An assault was reported in the 19000 block of Ware Road in Green Ridge.

Aug. 11

11:44 a.m.: Property damage to a corn field was reported near the intersection of Grand Avenue in Sedalia, just south of town.

Arrests

Aug. 11

4:14 p.m.: Joshua R. Miller, 20, of Lebanon, was arrested in Henry County on charges of failure to register a motor vehicle, no valid operator’s license and no seat belt.

10:13 p.m.: Bobby L. Clark, 35, of Smithton, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding, no seat belt and no insurance.
