Clinton man sustains serious injuries

A Clinton man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7 a.m. Friday in Henry County.

Dennis R. Akins, 47, was driving eastbound on state Route 7, one mile north of northwest 1101 road when he traveled into the path of a vehicle driven by Zachary L. Danner, 27 of Windsor who was also driving northbound according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Akins, who reports indicate was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was transported by emergency management services to Belton Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

2 injured in wreck

Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 3:05 p.m., Saturday in Johnson County.

Robert w. Prater, 47 of Clovis California, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50 northwest of county road 601 when he attempted to avoid striking objects in the roadway. The vehicle slid off the left side of the roadway overcorrected and overturned onto the driver’s side, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Report.

Johnson County Emergency Management Services transported both Prater and a passenger in the vehicle, Vickie L. Thomas, 46 of Clovis, California to St. Like’s East Hospital with minor injuries. Reports indicate both individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
