Concordia women hurt in Johnson

Two Concordia residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 10:22 a.m. Saturday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Kristopher R. Austin, 24, of St. Charles, was driving south on state Route 13 at County Road SE 215th when his vehicle overtook and struck the rear of another southbound vehicle driven by Allison M. Parkhurst, 23.

Parkhurst and a passenger in her vehicle, Morgan J. Vitosh, 23, were both taken by private vehicle to I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs with minor injuries.

Reports indicate Austin, Vitosh and Parkhurst were all wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Kansas woman injured in Saline

A Shawnee, Kansas, woman sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 11:58 p.m. Sunday in Saline County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Mistie L. Darby, 57, was driving west on the I-70 ramp from South U.S. Highway 65 when her vehicle traveled off the road and she over-corrected. The vehicle then traveled off the opposite side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

Darby, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Saline County Ambulance District to I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs for her injuries.
