UPDATE: Amber Alert canceled for Independence 9-month-old

An Amber Alert issued Tuesday for an abducted 9-month-old has been canceled.

According to Kansas City area news outlets, the Independence Police Department has canceled the Amber Alert for Syncere Lee Valiant, reporting the child was found safe with family members in Kansas City. However, police are still looking for the suspect, 31-year-old Robert T. Valiant.

IPD issued an Amber Alert for the child Tuesday afternoon after being abducted at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at 17007 East state Route 24 Independence by Robert.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black-spray-painted-over-red 2003 Pontiac Grand Am with Missouri registration DL3V3F. The suspect is described as 6-feet, 1-inch tall and 170 pounds with black hair, brown eyes, light complexion and a visible neck tattoo. He is believed to be armed.

Anyone seeing the victim, suspect or vehicle or anyone having any information related to the abduction should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call IPD at 816-836-3600.
