A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Pettis County until 6 p.m. Saturday
The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon.
Fire danger will increase across the area Saturday as strong southwest winds combine with very low relative humidity levels. Any fires that start will have the potential of spreading rapidly as sustained southwest winds of 20 to 25 mph impact the region. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged.
Counties impacted include Adair, Andrew, Atchison, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Chariton, Clay, Clinton, Cooper, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Henry, Holt, Howard, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Linn, Livingston, Macon, Mercer, Nodaway, Pettis, Platte, Putnam, Randolph, Ray, Saline, Schuyler, Sullivan and Worth.
