Downed limbs cause power outage

Bob Fuehring of Kansas City Power and Light works on a power line at 2525 Wing Ave. Several large branches from an oak tree fell in the rainstorm Tuesday evening, which caused the damage to the power lines. Fuehring said it would take a least 20 minutes to repair the damage to the lines. Area residents were without power for more than an hour due to the damage.

A section of a large oak tree was damaged in a storm early Tuesday evening at the home of Sue Martin, 2525 Wing Ave., in the Southwest Village subdivision of Sedalia. “I really wasn’t sure what happened to the tree,” Martin said. “My grandson told me that several limbs had fallen from the tree.” Martin, who has lived at the residence for 40 years, said she believed the tree to be more than 50 years old.
