Man killed in Sedalia crash

The Sedalia Police Department is seeking the public’s help after a man died in a single-vehicle accident late Tuesday night.

According to a SPD report, officers responded to a vehicle accident at 11:10 p.m. near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Barrett Avenue. Joel Burks, 25, of Sedalia, was driving west on South Barrett Avenue when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Burks was pronounced dead at the scene by Pettis County Coroner Robert “Skip” Smith.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. If anyone witnessed the collision, they are asked to contact the SPD Traffic Unit at 660-826-8100.
