Coupons for a cause

Jorge Rodriguez, 11, of Boy Scout Troop 300, does his best impression of an old-fashioned newspaper boy as he waves Sedalia Democrat coupons for fair-goers making their way into the main gate at the Missouri State Fair Wednesday morning. The Sedalia Democrat sponsored Wednesday’s Senior Appreciation Day, and offered coupons for $2 off adult admission at a price of 50 cents. Proceeds will help Troop 300 attend summer camp.

Joseph Rayner, an airman at Whiteman Air Force Base, and Leo Aguilar, 9, of Boy Scout Troop 300, trade money for coupons with a couple headed into the Missouri State Fair. The scouts were selling coupons from the Sedalia Democrat for 50 cents each.

Boy Scout Troop 300 Scoutmaster Don Perry — aka Mr. Don — and Brooke Cully, an airman at Whiteman Air Force Base, talk while Cully cuts fair admission coupons from copies of Wednesday’s Sedalia Democrat for the Boy Scouts to sell to fair-goers.
