2015 Missouri State Fair Queen Destiny Reed, right, of Marion County, receives first place cupcakes at the C & H Sugar Cupcake Fit for a Queen Contest from contestant Megan White, of Cole Camp, Wednesday. White presented six cupcakes from her entry, “Her Majesties Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcakes,” to Reed in the Home Economics Building after judging was complete.


White’s first place entry, “Her Majesties Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcakes,” was made with cocoa, brown sugar and chocolate chips and topped with butter cream icing and a cherry. Not only was she able to present the cupcakes to the MSF Queen, she also received $100 and a C & H Sugar apron. All entries were required to be made from scratch.


Taking second place was Sedalian Faye Hunton with her “Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Cream Cheese Filling.” Hunton received a C & H Sugar apron and $50 for her entry.


“Strawberry Cupcakes,” entered by Pat Finkes, of Steelville, received third place. Finkes received $25 and a C & H apron for her strawberry curd-filled cupcakes topped with frosting.
