A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Pettis County now through Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, thunderstorms containing heavy rain will continue Friday through the night in advance of a strong cold front. Widespread amounts of one to three inches are likely across the watch area, with isolated heavier amounts possible under the heaviest activity.
Heavy rainfall, along with the potential for the training of storms over the same areas, will contribute to a flash flood threat in the watch area Friday, particularly for locations that received heavy rain late last week and again early Friday morning.
A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
