Kohl’s celebrates grand opening in Sedalia

From left, Mayor Steve Galliher, Assistant Manager Justin Hubbs and Manager David Gerke cut the ribbon during Thursday morning’s grand opening ceremony at the new Kohl’s location in Sedalia, located at 4300 Wisconsin Ave. According to a Kohl’s news release, the approximately 56,00 square-foot store is the 26th store to open in Missouri and is one of two new Kohl’s stores opening across the country this fall.

Sedalia Kohl’s Manager David Gerke speaks to the employees, customers and community members gathered about the new store before the ribbon cutting. “All new Kohl’s stores feature the company’s latest store design to provide customers with an easy shopping experience,” he said. “Some of these features include updated check-out stations, newly-designed shopping carts and strollers, redesigned fitting rooms, a new beauty department, fitting room lounges in misses located in the front of the store. We also have brand new kiosks located inside, electronic signs in all departments and Wi-Fi throughout the store.”

Mayor Steve Galliher and Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond take some time after Thursday morning’s ribbon cutting ceremony to look around the new store before the crowds came to shop. “I want to say thank you for this great day,” Galliher said to Manager David Gerke during the ceremony. “You’re going to help out a lot with my phone ringing, people wanting to know when Kohl’s is going to open. And I’ve never seen one man make so many women so happy,” he added with laughs from the crowd.
