A new starting time and a new route are two key changes to this year’s Smith-Cotton High School Homecoming Parade.
The parade will start at 3 p.m. Friday, 30 minutes earlier than in previous years. In addition, downtown road work and an effort to keep traffic moving on U.S. Highway 50 has moved the parade assembly areas and route north of the highway. The parade begins at Sixth Street and Ohio Avenue and proceeds north on Ohio to Main Street; the parade will then travel east on Main to Massachusetts Avenue and head south to Sixth Street. It will disband at Sixth and Ohio.
Parade entries will assemble in the First Baptist Church parking areas at Seventh Street and Massachusetts Avenue; along both Sixth Street and Seventh Street between Massachusetts and Lafayette avenues; and along Lafayette between Sixth and Seventh streets.
