Two students from La Monte R-VI High School attended the Missouri Girls State, hosted from June 21 through 27 at the University of central Missouri in Warrensburg.

Katie Patrick and Vada DeMotte were both sponsored by the La Monte American Legion Post 520 to attend the week long program.

Girl’s State is designed to educate and train Mo. young leaders in functional citizenship and government. During the program, those in attendance built a state government complete with mayors, senators, and representatives, all voted on by their peers.

Students are selected to attend the program based on their leadership, citizenship, academic achievement and character.

Patrick is the daughter of Russell and Bobbi Patrick. DeMotte is the daughter of Bob and Jeri DeMotte.
