Arson suspected in trailer fire at RV park

The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a suspected arson fire that burned two trailers Thursday night at a Main Street RV park in the 4000 block of West Main Street.

According to Pettis County Fire Chief Mike Harding, a burning trailer was reported at the RV park around 10:25 p.m. Harding said arson is suspected because evidence of an accelerant used to ignite the blaze was found at the blaze. Harding said about 15-17 firefighters responded to the fire and quickly doused the burning trailers. There were no injuries reported in the fire, the the trailers sustained total damage. The owners of the trailers were not identified.

The Fire Marshal’s Office and Pettis County Sheriff’s investigators said the suspect is at large and is being sought. The identity of the suspect was not provided. The case remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office and Sheriff’s offices.
