Ionia woman sustains serious injuries

A Ionia woman sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tiffany L. Saldand, 32, was driving west on SE 250 Road, two-tenths of a mile east of SE 571 Road, when she lost control of her vehicle, which traveled off the left side of the road, striking a ditch and a fence. It then overturned, coming to rest on its top.

Saldand, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Life Flight to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for her injuries.

Man injured in Johnson crash

A Wellington man sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Marvin A. Huenefeld, 74, was driving north on Business 13, 33 feet south of County Road SW 325, when his vehicle traveled off the left side of the road. It then returned to the road and began sliding. After it traveled off the right side of the road, it struck a ditch, fence and tree.

The vehicle then became airborne and traveled over a creek. The vehicle struck the creek embankment, overturned and came to rest on its wheels in a wooded area.

Huenefeld, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit for his injuries.
