Two Sedalians were arrested on drug-related charges after a traffic stop Wednesday.

According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 5600 block of South Limit Avenue in Sedalia. During the stop, deputies requested the assistance of the Sedalia Police Department’s K9 Unit to conduct a sniff of the vehicle.

The K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics and during a search of the vehicle, small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana were found.

Jason S. Klein, 38, of the 1900 block of South Prospect Avenue, and Maria F. Marsala, of Sedalia, were arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Klein was also arrested on a felony probation and parole warrant.

Klein has been formally charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $5,000 bond, cash or surety.

Formal charges on Marsala were not available at press time.
