Dickie Doo June Showcase

Dickie Doo Bar-B-Que, 4800 S. Limit Ave., will host a Songwriters’ Showcase every Wednesday; a Jam Night every Thursday; and a Gospel Hour every Sunday suitable for families.

Evening under the stars

The fifth annual Evening Under The Stars will be hosted from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Green Ridge Park in Green Ridge, with live band “Cedar Creek.”

Supper in the park will begin at 6 p.m. Items being sold include pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, nachos, pop and bottled water. No alcohol will be served. Everyone is invited to come eat, dance or listen to the music; please bring lawn chairs. The cost is for the dance is a free will donation.

The event is sponsored by the Green Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

Nora Orthic exhibit opens

An exhibit, “Nora Orthic: Carnival Sideshow and Other Wonders,” opened Thursday at the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on the Campus of State Fair Community College. Museum hours are 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; closed on Mondays. For more information call 530-5888 or visit

Arrow Rock Lyceum presents “South Pacific”

ARROW ROCK — The Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre presents the musical “South Pacific.” Evening performances begin at 8 p.m. with matinees at 2 p.m. June 20 through June 28.

Social tensions and exotic romance collide in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s groundbreaking musical tale set in a Polynesian paradise threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war. Based on a book by James Michener, “South Pacific” tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples as they search for happiness through trying times and differing backgrounds.
