Due to a forecast of an almost 100 percent chance of rain Thanksgiving night, the annual downtown Sedalia Thanksgiving Lighting and Fireworks Extravaganza has been postponed.
The annual event to kick-off the holiday season will now take place Friday evening. Holiday music will begin playing at 6 p.m. The program starts at 6:35 p.m. with live musical performances by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Ward Choir and welcoming remarks from Mayor Stephen Galliher, Jordon Furnell and Erica Eisenmenger. The stage will be set up at the intersection of Fifth Street and Ohio Avenue.
The countdown to the lighting begins at 7 p.m., with the fireworks display immediately following from the top of Hotel Bothwell with synchronized Christmas and holiday music.
