Higginsville woman injured in crash
A Higginsville woman was injured in a four-vehicle accident at 3:48 p.m. Thursday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, four vehicles were driving north on state Route 13, south of County Road NE 950 when a vehicle driven by Angelina Melton, 58, of Warrensburg, came to a temporary stop in traffic as she waited for southbound traffic to clear.
Sarah E. Foran, 22, of Warrenton, stopped her vehicle as well, but Alexandra K. Smith, 21, of Warrensburg failed to do so, striking the rear of Foran’s vehicle and causing a chain reaction.
A fourth vehicle driven by Christy L. Moore, 23, also failed to stop and struck the rear of Smith’s vehicle.
Moore was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center with minor injuries.
Reports indicate all four drivers were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sedalia Police Department reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
